Well- I did mention the city of Leesburg is super corrupt, right?
They don't want this lot used or fenced because of their super corrupt "leesburg bikefest" that they make millions off of every year. Our lot is right in the middle of it and its a HUGE event.

So they think our dirt is SUPER HISTORIC lol.

Sweet can we invite a bunch of my biker trash family and friends to camp there for bike fest?

It'd probably change there mind about the fence, if for nothing but to keep them in

I could always invite some of my dad's side of my family to stay in some dilapidated trailers. Its zoned residential/commercial. lol

Spent the day yesterday talking to Efren, who knows diesels. He asked for my engine serial number and apparently my number is no good or somehow invalid.
Maybe that would explain why the dealer I took it to kept trying to sell me parts for an EGR engine despite mine not having the EGR. I guess they were just using the vin which shows a 2004. But the engine in my bus is a leftover 03. 03 chassis with an 04 body.
He's gonna email a friend of his at a dealer near him and try to find out whats up with my serial number.
I LOVE this forum.

Who knows, maybe I'll have a fully functional bus this summer!

shame on that navistar dealer, they should be working off the VIN.. its also possible that the engine was swapped. though mot likely.. a real navi dealer should be able to see what engine serial number was shipped in your bus..

the VIN should show the correct parts for it.. if its not either that dealer was a scheister and trying to feed you a bill of goods, or their computers are wrong..

its real common for the chassis and bus years to be different. the bus gets titled by the body year but chassis parts are by chassis year, however thats why the dealer asks for VIN as it **SHOULD** not matter the titled-year as their computers are supposed to work off of the as-built for that chassis..

I use Rush truck out of columbus ohio. and they have been fantastic to me thus far in getting me the correct parts.. even for my old carpenter.

There's some sort of glitch. My engine is original for sure, but the S/N isn't valid or something.
Maybe someone didn't enter some piece of data long ago, idk.
I'll hopefully be finding out more today.
But with an air compressor on its way out, a leaky hpop, leaky pan gasket, leaky rear main, and that oil/coolant vapor coming out of the blowby tube I can't help but wonder if another engine would be money better spent. Its got 226k miles and a questionable history as we found out later on.
With all the corrosion that's been caused in the timing covers I have a fear that a liner seal is probably next. And the injectors can't have a ton of life left in them at this mileage.
If I could fix this cheap then its definitely got some good miles left in it, idk... Its so hard to decide.

turbo to oil pan 466E I think is around 13k.. ready to fly, drop it on and go.. wont include your air compressor, thats a bolt on driven by the front gear train on yours. does give you new injectors. (same computer).

Long Block is much less.. which should give you everything that sounds bad on your current one..

https://65ldiesel.com/product/intern...ed-long-block/

the 444E is 8500 for a drop in.. alas why so many schools bought those.. they saved some coin.. of course in my opinion over-all the 466E is twice the motor that a 444E is..

-Christopher

P.S. I pretty much took this route with my transmission project last year.. rather than mess with fixing my 545 or buying used pieces I just went new even though it cost more.. just for peace of mind knowing I rack up miles on my bus more than most drive their cars in 2 years..

if you plan to bee-bop around florida for little one or 2 night camping trips id probably find a good used unit and drop in.. but if you plan to take off and run the country in the near future and travel the bus lots.. I might consider replacing with a reman motor..

P.S.S. - when my 444E flies apart in pieces eventually, this is the route ill take...

I've found a new longblock reman for $6700 thats got the turbo and injectors. I'd need a new ECM because its a HT block. But if I am gonna spend that kinda dough I may as well get a few extra ponies if I can.
So would a HT block and HT ECM be all I'd need?
I realize that its gona be at the upper limits of what my trans can handle, but I don't plan on hammering it and if/when the trans goes that's a piece of cake to upgrade/replace compared to the engine.
What say ye?

You can always buy one of the rust buckets up here, even with fuel home you'd still be 3k or so
