Wow maybe the flagship store in Columbus is different than the other micro centers.. they have all kinds of parts and fans and electronics bits .. seem there has to be some byopc places in Denver, it's a very tech friendly city !

So one of my tricks for boondocking is to look up Walmarts on Google Maps and turn on satellite view and zoom in all the way to see if I can spot a camper in their parking lot. There are quite a few that claim to not allow overnight parking but have lots of campers.

We drove about 3x as far as I had planned today. Woke up in Denver, spent the day at Union Reservoir park, and going to sleep in Rawlins, Wyoming.
Wyoming has a LOT of empty space, and a lot of miles between exits!

am I correct in that solar panels work better when the sun is bright but the panel temperatires are physically cooler? or was that only older panels?
ie when you are driving on a sunny day vs parked, your solar does well with the airflow over the modules..

After afrustrating night in Evanston, WY (no wifi, no mobile data, expensive diesel and awful coffee!) we high tailed it out of there and drove to Utah this morning.
So far, I have to say.. Utah looks amazing. It also doesn't hurt that they have Planet Fitness here.. If I ever have to trek across Wyoming again, I will for sure do it in one go on a day I don't have to work.
My little bus doesn't have any heat problems until you get about a mile above sea level, and then its like a light switch. All of a sudden you have to choose one air conditioner instead of running both, and even then you have to drop your speed to keep the temp gauge anywhere near where it would normally be. Overall I think we had plenty of power for the hills, but I couldn't use it half the time because of temperature concerns. Boo.
I've been using my Mobius Action Camera to take some video footage along the trip, it's not a perfect solution but I'll be putting up some clips soon. As lonely as Wyoming was, there was some awesome views.

Ely nevada was the town we stayed in west of Echo Canyon. Nice shady KOA there. Showers, wifi, etc. We had been boon docking for days when the enjoyed the civilization of KOA.

Today we increased our organized storage y adding a second filing cabinet. The Mormon thrift store had the size we needed for $20 out the door, and I spent about an hour installing it with chewing gum and bits of twine.
My next upgrade will be to find a couple more milk crates and maybe get a little more creative with mounting them.
I've also got my eye out forsome sort bof box that I can repurpose into amount for my switch panel. It's been precariously perched for long enough. It also wouldn't hurt to build a shelf of sorts at the level of the chair rail to let me encluse my house battery and make it easier to use the sapce above it. Right now I've got my solar controller and my inverter bolted directly to the wall., which among other things means its a lot harder to cover that wall with reflectix.
We're in Salt Lake City right now, it's way hotter than we expected, and our lack of insulation upgrades from stock are really showing. Our dual AC keeps us cool while the engine is running, but even in the shade it heats up absurdly fast as soon as we shut it off. Even with the cost of fuel we're coming out ahead compared to purchasing and operating a rooftop AC and a gas generator... but damn, it's hot.
We met @toplessartist and his wife and they're super cool people. I don't think we've met anyone we didn't like since we started this whole thing, which is way better results than meeting "normal" people.

I second that I have met really cool people since ive gotten the busses.. im not even camping or full timing and the enthusiasm I found around people that see the busses is amazing!

102 degrees at 6000ft+ above sea level is too much for my bus to go climbing even higher on the highway. We have a plan to go to Park City but my temp gauge just got too high to continue so we came back to the nearest town to sit in a shady spot and run the AC at idle for a while. It's brutal out here!
