Hey, that's some good reconfiguring of the mirror! I think I'll steal that idea!

Yup...I'd thought about doing exactly the same thing. TIG welder would make it easy. I still think it would snag branches tho...

An A-pillar or door mount mirror like from a pickup truck is not going to work.

Actually looking at that existing mirror....what if you mounted the mirror with the upper mount on a hinge/pivot above the driver? Then when you get into the brush and bump into something, it would swing back to where the mirror would bottom out where the upper bracket is now?
Yes, that is my bus exactly. Or it was...until I bastardized the damn thing.

This is an absurd statement for skoolie.net. While an a-pillar mounted mirror won't just buckle in, it can absolutely work. It would take very little fabrication and a bit if ingenuity.. That's all. I may convince my friend to go the route of shortening the big mirror mount, though, because it's less work on my part. I'm the fabricator, you see ☺️

I respectfully submit that the statement was meant gently for someone who is not all-in for fabrication, and meant, "...is not going to work without fabrication and ingenuity."

I'm guessing that you guys actually both agree but were writing for different audiences.

Goatherder- what did you end up doing? I have the exact same mirror on my cutaway and while it works great I would love to get rid of it.

My bus is a wide body and the standard mirror has never been an issue. It doesn't protrude much passed body.

P.S. Tango, are you there? You aren't any spring chicken either--better get your bus done!
