The Bear Den

Here we go joining the ranks of the short bus crowd.
This is our 1999 E350 with the 7.3L diesel. We got a screaming deal on her and couldn't pass her up. My husband drove her home (about 200 miles) from southern Oregon on I5 at highway speeds with nothing more than fluid checks. At this stage of the game we are not planning on doing a full conversion. Here in Oregon, if we do a full conversion, we have to register it as a Motorhome. As our rolling bear den, it is simply a 2 person bus, which saves us about $150 in registration fees. Here is what she looks like so far: I guess I need to figure out to upload images first. Photos are in our profile.

Is that part of the large batch of Oregon buses that hit Govdeals a few days ago? That one district that was selling like 25 of them?

Nice bus. I'm jealous of the 7.3L.

Keep that tranny alive w/ synthetic fluid, a nice big cooler and a filter in the cooler line. Heat will kill it. I know, my 99 F350 7.3L has a $10k transmission. 3 rebuilds...

For the 7.3L engine, DP Tuner has the solution. You ship Jody your engine computer and he re-tunes it for $110 and ships it back. This will make a huge improvement in the driveability and responsiveness of your vehicle. Single best mod I ever made to my 7.3L truck and it's been running on his tune for 10 years now. Engine runs much smoother and the transmission shifts perfectly and is always in the right gear. Call him on the phone, tell him what you've got, and he'll get you what you need.

Edit: I just ran across this. Interesting testamonial:

OK Milkmania, thank-you. But how did you do that?

Thanks also to Goatherder, we are looking into everything you mentioned. We are planning on towing our Bronco to Medford Oct 1st, so the tranny is a concern.
