Built my curtain rods out of 3/4" dowel, supported by eyebolts, and 1" clip rings....figured this would be the easist system to maintain and clean. Now just waiting on my 19 curtains to be sewn. Also installed some barrel bolts to hold my transom windows open.
That back-up alarm is too annoying, so I tested by covering it with painter's tape......it cut the decibel level by about 2/3rds, so I'll clean that crossmember and wrap a strip of duct tape around the whole thing. i do want SOME noise, just not that ear-splitting wail. Also measured for my muffler change/delete, and librerally applied the PB Blaster to every bolt I could find. The hangers and clamps all look very re-usable. Undecided if I want to slap a cheery bomb in there, or just straightpipe it.....any thoughts?
And some bling for my license plate.....curious to see if I'll get pulled for obscuring the NORTH CAROLINA too much.

I know the policy here is no politics, but: Orville and Wilbur Wright were buckeyes, dammit! The first flight was only in NC because you guys had wind and small hills. Ohio industry built those planes.

I Think the over riding factor in going to NC was all those nice soft sand dunes to crash into, not the wind and hills

It's been a long journey for sure. I feel like if this road would straighten out a little, I'd be able to see the finish line. Getting closer!

They do have a bomb with 4" inlet and outlet......kinda surprised me when I saw it online. I think it was 7" diameter.

I reached out to a couple of guys on this site who've done it......based on their recommendations, I'm going to straightpipe it.

Not to be taken the wrong way -- (yes, MY preference is silent running but this is YOUR deal...)
Is the straight-pipe vs cherrybomb strictly about exhaust tone and how you want it to sound or is there also a performance issue of cooler exhaust valve temps. more hp, better mpg?

imo cherry bomb would strictly be for tone.

It's 95% performance-driven.....trying to squeeze every Shetland I can out of my 175 HP variant. The 'growl' will just be an added bonus.

With my car (saab turbo) anything you can do to reduce back-pressure in the exhaust will increase your power -- or better put -- reducing the exhaust restrictions will allow you to run more boost pressure and fuel. The more power, isn't magic -- you're burning more fuel but it's impressive how much more power can be made over stock.
with these long stoke/low rpm motors and already having a 4" exhaust on my bus -- I just haven't thought about the diesel engines and getting more power out of 'em. But my CAT at 210hp is a bit more than your 175hp. Didn't you say the ecm could be retuned for more hp w/out adverse effect to engine health? I be mixing up threads now...

I don't have the knowledge to make that statement, though I have seen it on here several times. But 2 different International techs and another poster here said it couldn't be done on my model year. And the performance chips don't come very highly rated, and I don't want to spend a couple of grand regearing the diff for the additional 4-8 mph I'm wanting. My best bet now is to cross paths with Chris sometime and see if he'll take a 'hack' at it.
195 hp would make me happy......210 would put me over the moon.
