I've never seen anyone put metal on the inside of a skinned window. Very thorough! Are you going to add any other wall covering, or do you just like the "industrial" look?

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

Eh just paint, which I started today. Im gunna have most of the boring metal walls just white and then I figure I can turn people loose with a paint set and let em decorate. Kinda like a mural timeline with reminders of people and adventures. Better and easier than some wood paneling or fancy paint job IMO. All the "furniture" (cabinetry etc.) is going to be semi-gloss black.
Like I said, I started painting the interior today and did some work on getting the kitchenette cabinetry worked out. Ill probably work on getting the sink ready tomorrow and start on the rest of the cabinetry. Ill be sure to snap some photos and post em up for yall

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

These pics show the kitchenette temporarily in place for the mock up and the first wall divider mocked into place. I've got two more traced out that I'll probably cut today and get further along on the mock up of the driver side storage unit. Mattress is in place on the bed platform as of last night and tonight will be my first night staying on board. I have to have all of my stuff out of my apt by the 16th, got about 75% out yesterday. Kinda crazy, anxious feelings as its all becoming a reality... stay tuned

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

Things are coming along. I've stayed in the bus about 5 nights alreadyh with no problems and the progress I'm making is slowly transforming it from a big empty space with a bed in it to some a little more like a studio. The Evolution thus far:
Here's the Kitchenette roughed out, but that is essentially what it will look like:

And a shot oh the whole living area as of now:

I have the other two walls that will make up the driver side cabinetry cut and painted and once i get some devider cubbys Ill start to fab up the shelves that will bring it all together. Stay Tuned

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

So another update, I've been working alot on the plumming system lately. Built up the water tank frame out of the angle iron that used to be supporting the bus seats. Got it all cut, welded and painted up. Then I decided where it would go and starting figuring out the sink-to-grey water tank plumming, the fill spout-to-fresh tank plumming, and the grey water to dump plumming. Finally finished getting all the brainstorming and part-buying done today, did a bit of ABS cement welding but will finish most of that stuff tomorrow am. I also finished up the interior shelving unit that works as a mounting place for the plastic drawer unit I got, a bookshelf, and one wall of what will be the closet. Oh and I almost forgot, I sewed up some black-out curtains from some black bed sheets. I've started hanging them, but I'll have to finish 'em up later and snap some pics.

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

The shelving unit first slammed together

And now painted and installed with the drawer unit (sorry about the mess, I'll get better pics once everything is more together and organized)

In this shot you're looking up inder the bed/dresser space. You can see the black tube coming out the side of the cabinet that is the sink drain tube. You can also see the water pump mounted to the wall there and the hole in the floor where the grey water drain will run through.

And here are my two 15 gallon tanks with the angle iron frame I made up.

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

I'm definitely taking notes on your build! The economy of space and materials is well thought out! I'm going to incorporate some into my build (with considerably more space to play with).

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

Lookin' good! And, BTW...I also like the little 2-burner cooktop you have there. Tried to Google that brand, but came up empty as far as cooktops. Where did you find it? Propane, right? Thanx in advance.

Re: The Rubber Tramp Project

Hey guys, things have been pretty hectic lately, hence the lack of much activity here. The cooktop is probably a no name brand, my pops actually picked it up from a local dealer at a flea market in the central valley. I'm uploading photos now and will post them in a minute.
