The uprising of the "Green Machine"

My name is Kurt from Hartford WI and I bought my first bus a couple of months ago. It's a 1999 24 passenger flat nose Blue Bird with 24 valve 5.9 Cummins diesel with Allison tranny. So far I removed the seats, stop sign and other red school lights and painted it. In the spring I will finish the black trim portions of the buss. My fuel tank sprung a pin hole leak shortly after I had it.I'm in the process of getting that fixed. I have a couple of sheets of plywood pulled up from the floor. I plan on fixing the rust spots, probably painting the floor with a coat of Rustoleum and then maybe a coat of undercoating then new 3/4" plywood.I will have questions about the correct ways to do certain things on the bus. ( heat, power, etc.) It's great to look at the gallery to get ideas.

Reminds me of the lime green gremlin that was on tv commercials a while back. Good start to it, keep the pics and progress coming....

Wow. That is an eye-catching color you chose. The lack of wheel well humps will give you a lot of flexibility in your interior design. I think those wheels must be smaller than typical bus wheels, right? Do you have a high roof on that bus? Like maybe 6'6"? Welcome to the skoolie site!

Re: The uprising of the "Green Machine"

I'm not sure on the wheel size. As far as the inside height goes,I'm 6' and I have room above. I never measured it. I guess now I will have to..... I can't wait to get the flood ripped up, holes patched and the new 3/4" plywood down. Then comes the fun of deciding what and where to put it.

Today was a very productive day. All the old plywood is out of the bus. Time to patch holes and start putting it back together.

Re: The uprising of the "Green Machine"

Finally got back to doing some work on the bus. I had all new brake hoses made and am replacing the entire brake line system. I couldn't find a way to get to the fittings on the master cylinder so I made a access hole which will be the new location for the brake reservoir.

replaced the entire brake line system including hoses from the master cylinder back

.

Re: The uprising of the "Green Machine"

This is the Mico brake that came with my bus. I'm not sure if it works of not but I'm going to try to get it hooked up. It works with the main brake system to lock the rear tire when energized. It has it's own pump and brake line the pumps fluid into an actuator to put pressure on the main brake system to work calipers.

The Mico brake that came with the bus. I'm going to install it that when you push the E brake the Mico automatically engages. It will lock up the rear calipers.
