Australia - and $20K is a pretty good price here for any bus, let alone one with such low mileage.

Yeah pretty much the whole rest of the world is a lot more expensive - you've got great trade deals!

The make of engine and transmission might help us help you from making a mistake.

It's a Hino Engine, 275hp turbo diesel. I'm getting the service record in the mail today so I'll be able to post more details when that arrives. It's a long way away - I live on an island off the south of Australia so have to buy it sight unseen.

Not bad for its age looks like it has good potential.
Really like how skoolie communities in other countries are shareing their stories and builds too.

Welcome and pull up a torn out bus seat.

Howdy and welcome Dane!

Not knowing anything about those brands (coach/engine), I can't comment on them. I would suggest looking very closely at headroom, what can be done with the windows (assuming you want to get rid of some of them, how hard it would be to raise the roof (if necessary), and how much storage space exists (not just for storage but for water tanks and systems).

I know nothing about the "metro" buses (the city buses compared to tour buses) but I've heard they have gearing that is not great on the highway and tend to sacrifice a lot of storage space in favor of seating space and smaller footprint/height. These may not be an issue for you.. just sharing some things to consider.

What are the tires like? Age? Probably needs shocks. How long lasting are those engines.?

Hino

I owned an 05 Hino (the 4 cylinder but same basic engine). They warrantied the Engine to 200,000 miles. I owned mine to about the same miles as this bus and had 1 warranty claim. Very reliable engines. We might not be familiar with Hino in America but they have been building trucks for a long time.

That says alot, they warranty up to 200k. It seams most other counties have better diesels than us. Part may be a little more relaxed emissions.

So what happened with your "sight unseen purchase"?
I've done pre purchase inspections of properties and vehicles for others before, for the money your spending you probably could have found someone to inspect if for you.
For that kind of money I'd be really concerned about being something I didn't even drive much less see with my own eyes.....
