if the bus doesn't sell this time around, i am seriously considering trying my hand at limo service. even with fuel @ $5/gallon it's unlikely that i'd burn more than $100 worth of fuel in an evening of driving people to/from the clubs. If i could make 500-1000 a nite it might be worth while. there are other costs also, like my cdl, $4 million in insurance (or 2, i don't remember) plus i have to register with the state as a charter bus, and get commercial registration. and get a federal DOT number.
lots of hoops to jump through....and they all cost $$
An applicant shall acquire the following insurance coverage of liability for acts or omissions of the applicant as a motor carrier of passengers:
(a) Bodily injury and property damage liability insurance with a minimum combined single limit of $5,000,000.00 for all persons injured or for property damage.
it's $325 to get registered with the state as a charter bus
the penalty for not registering or not following the other rules is a max of $500....what are the chances of getting caught?
