Re: Jacuzzi Bus IV
Here are some photo's i took today: Now i wish i had the $1K to spend on chrome wheel inserts!
still waiting on my "jacuzzi inside" signs, those will help to give the bus just a little more character.
the bus is fixed now...people stare at me everywhere i go....whoo hoo!

Re: Jacuzzi Bus IV
to answer all the questions since my last post....
i plan to sell the bus in the near future.
unfortunately someone removed the guts to the sign on the front. It has a cable filled with about 50 wires. it would be cool to have a working sign, but i'm too far over budget for such expenditures.
people stare a lot...i'm thinking about driving around and shooting video of people who stop to look at the bus, thought maybe i could incorporate that into a bus video...
vent on the front moves a lot of air, is very quiet. The drivers area of the bus is nearly silent when driving down the road...it's nice having the motor way in the back, and having all the 3/4" plywood, and 80 or so pounds of insulation between engine compartment and passenger area.
I did more bus stuff today, let me preface this with a story from the past. On our way home from arizona, we nearly rear-ended a car on the expressway i think around st louis. it was raining, people slammed on their brakes. My buddy was driving, he's a firefighter out west and has lots of experience with big trucks, but we couldn't stop. Front brakes locked up and we were doomed to hit the guy in front of us. My buddy quickly checked his mirrors and swerved into the left lane at the last possible second. That was exciting! I noticed the other day that if i put the bus in reverse it would roll backwards with the parking brake on even at idle. Obviously my brakes aren't working properly. Unfortunately this bus has "automatic slack adjusters" Apparently they are not doing their job, or more likely the moron who owned the bus before me tried to "adjust" the brakes on his own. I read and read and read online, and found that most ASA's as they are called should not be adjusted manually, rather the automatic slack adjuster should be replaced if the brakes are out of adjustment. I kept digging and digging, and eventually crawled under to see what brand adjusters my bus has. They are haldex, which turned out to be exciting. I found that these are some of the few ASA 's that can be adjusted manually. In short, my bus really stops now! i can barely keep water in the jacuzzi.

Re: Jacuzzi Bus IV
i was mistaken...i just looked up wheel simulators, and they're only $500 for a set of 4. The bus would look good with em.......hmmmmm

Re: Jacuzzi Bus IV
i would go for the simulators (easy to say for me, its not my money)
But still if it would be my bus and my money it would get the simulators, or at least a nice silver paintjob. or maybe red-yellow rims are asked for.

saturday i have car show to take the bus to.
i got my signs yesterday, still need to get them put on...The sign guy is awesome, except he doesn't like my flames. he said flames are supposed to have an ebb and flow, some sort of rhythm blah blah blah...he said my flames are like finger nails on a chalkboard. That's the meanest thing anyone has ever said to me lol Sign guy drew me out some spectactular looking flames on paper while we were waiting. He said he'd like to draw out my flames on the side of the next bus for free....actually, he wants me to repaint this bus, but i don't think that's gonna happen. He also said that i don't realize how popular i am. he said that everywhere he goes people know about the jacuzzi bus and that i am becomming an icon.
how's that for flattery?
after this one sells, i guess that means i need to build another bus.

Re: Jacuzzi Bus IV
went to the car show today, and i won first place in my class (all vehicles 1981 and newer, modified)
i don't know how it is around the rest of the country, but michigan being the worlds motor capitol, car shows are a reasonably popular thing. I don't know the official count, but there were definitely hundreds of vehicles there. It was the "southeast michigan autofest" or something like that.
the trophy is about 4 feet tall. here are some photo's.
here's the new jacuzzi sign installed:

Re: Jacuzzi Bus IV
out of curiousity, what kind of sprayer did you use to put the rustoleum/acetone mix?
