Congrats on a safe trip! I thought I had an adventure when I drove my bus down from Mass to NC, compared to your saga, I just took a trip across town! I can't imagine diving something that size for the first time, much less that distance on a wing & a prayer!
Once again, glad you made it home safe & sound (lumps notwithstanding)!

Sounds like you had quite an adventure! Glad you made it back in one piece. Let us know how it goes on the conversion. I'm interested to see/hear how it goes with the articulated design.

I feel so efette! My bus was delivered on a load-all, I only had to drive it around back!

Bravo, Mac, Bravo!

(A load-all is a low tilt-bed trailer - when the driver backed it off, the nose of the bus was higher then the telco cables on the pole!)

Glad you made it!

Wow, what an adventure! I was cringing through the whole thing just waiting for a shoe to drop. There almost nothing I hate worse than being broken down along the side of the road (except, of course, being broken down along the side of the road and BROKE), so I really could sympathize with what you must have been feeling every time something would act up. 5 mpg isn't too bad for pushing, what, 20 tons, down the road at 60 mph! Flat-nosed tons, at that! I guess the bus would rather work than sit around waiting for long periods of time, which is kind of nice in a machine, really.

Good story. Congratulations on the successful journey and your finely honed driving skills.

I'd love to be by the fireside one day, I can here it now. . . "There I was, hostiles to the right! Hostiles to the left! Hostiles front & rear! Nothing but miles & miles of hostiles with nothing to protect me but some steel & my wits!"

"Gee, Grandpa, it must have been rough in Iraq!"

"That wasn't in Iraq, it was driving my bus home!"

I thought my moving trip from OR to Co was bad but I think you topped it. Glad you and the bus made it back.

Great story

I was laughing all the way through the trip . Not at you but because I have been there . (although not lately) It seems you were up to all of the rquired tasks of fixing Freedom so all is well. I am really glad you named your bus. Every bus should have a name. My 78 Crown is "Farther"

Best of luck, J.B.

Wow! That was quite a story. You won't believe this but I remember seeing you at that Flying J. My mom lives about a mile from the Flying J in north OKC. I had taken my camper up there to drain the tanks. I was pretty new at it and wound up dumping my crapper everywhere. Otherwise, I may not have remembered that day as well. Anyways, I remember seeing a guy there with an articulating bus. I thought it was unusual since you were there by yourself. I also noticed because I had commented to my wife on numerous occasions on how cool it would be to turn one into an RV! Lots of room in there.

Excellent story I feel for you on the cold thing. I bought my bus at the beginning of February (remember that below 0 cold snap?) and soon discovered the heaters left much to be desired.

Ok...I have to ask though...what's all this about frnt run, rear run, etc? What is this switch doing? I'm beginning to be kinda glad there is nothing electronic about my engine...not even glow plugs.
