5.13 gears???

Just got me a bus, and about a hundred question , but I will ask them one at a time.

Anyone heard of ~5.13 rear end gears in a bus? Bus specs are in my signature. The rear is stamped Dana. My method for coming up with 5.13 may be flawed. I marked the tire and the driveshaft. I then rolled the bus forward one complete rotation of the tire and counted the number of rotations of the driveshaft. Not an exact method but should be close?

Thanks

Re: 5.13 gears???

the method is good and the numbers are in the available ballpark, rember that the tire diametr also comes into the rpm vs mph computation, it is safe to assume a 1 to 1 ratio between the driveshaft and engine in high gear.
their should be a tag on the rear axle that gives you the model and ratio if no one has removed it.
the data plate on the firewall might also give you the ratio.
