im told the best place for the sensor is in the pan.. what i did for mine in the AT545.. (if your 545 has a depper pan move it to the 1545 if it doesnt.. then mount the temp sensor in the extra dipstick location..

the deep pan on the 545 is where the dipstick goes.. in the side.. and the other side is plugged..

exiting the cooler is not the best gauge of how warm the trans is.. thats just the fluid return.. not all the flkuid goes to the cooler so you are getting a subset reading of the coldest fluid..

my temp sensor was right after the cooler, before it returned to the filter and transmission.

I am really liking the 180* bypass idea!

Hey Turf this is thanks as I am plumbing in a Derale fan cooler on my bus at 545 this weekend this . Here is my question that has nothing to do with transmissions. What kind of fluid goes in the power steering? my tc 2000 is a 91 yours is a 93 help read the book I have and cannot find it.
Thanks Joe

Arrow

i can't remember for sure. but i'll look in the daylight tomorrow.

its either the same atf that's in the transmission, or its power steering fluid. i, look in the morning.

my power steering canister hose was leaking and i redid the connection and refilled the canister. if i remember right, i was planning on using atf, but when i got to the canister, it was clearly marked "power steering fluid only", it might have even said an oil weight. i just remember being wrong from my first guess.

let me double check my reservoir in the daylight, but that's what i remember.

I can't speak to that model, but many buses use 15W40 Engine oil in the power-steering, and quite a lot of it.

Thank you!
I put my finger in it and it came out red. not 10 -30!
I thought atf too, cannot find it in the book except for 10-30 oil but my bus is older than the book.

Thanks Steve, not this one unless they started making red 10-40.
Remember Royal Triton?
It was purple.

For the TC1000, Dexon II ATF is recommended.

Lemme look up the TC2000

Same ... Dexron II

X2 on what Chris says.

i got my sensor from the auto gauge company. it is very light weight and i do not like it. the wires are tiny like barbie hair and its very delicate underneath the truck. look for something heavy duty.
