Air Brake Pedal Removal

As you can see, my pedal assembly looks freakin gnarly. I want to remove it to sandblast and repaint it, but I can't figure out how to do this with the brake linkage. Does anyone know if the pedal assembly can be removed separate from the air mechanism under the bus? I'd rather not have to undo all the hose connections just to get this pedal assembly out.

The fuel pedal is easy, it is just fly by wire and bolted to the plate I am trying to take out.

Thanks in advance

Re: Air Brake Pedal Removal

What type of air brakes? Most have a pivot pin that needs to be removed. If your talking about the part that's bolted to the floor that's the top of the air valve and yes you have to remove all the air lines.
Good luck

Re: Air Brake Pedal Removal

Hey Prokchop, I have the same issue and could not get my break pedal apart. I was hoping for an easy way to remove.

I ended up just taking off the rubber pedal covers and putting a small wire brush on a die grinder and doing it that way. They look fine now after a slathering of that rust preventative paint and some black oil-based rustoleum.

I have that same style of brake pedal on my 98 BB FE Transit bus. Can these be swapped for traditional style brake pedal? I loath this accelerator style brake pedal.

Thanks
