Allison B300 transmission?

This bus that I can't buy:

https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?f...30&acctid=8504

is listed as having an Allison B300 in it. A little research seems to indicate that the B300 is a flavor of the B3000, which would be a Good Thing. A spec sheet I pulled down from the interweb seems to indicate that it is a 6 speed box. Does anyone know if 6th is locked out as it typically is on an MD3060? Any differences between the two we should know about? One more desirable than the other?

Thanks -

Well.... I can tell you my bus has a B300R (R indicates retarder). Yes it's a 6-speed box, but in my Blue Bird it's configured to exercise only 5. That Thomas probably is also, but Thomas has shown themselves more willing to cooperate with a person who wants to pay Allison to change that.

The auction lists it as a 6.6L engine. It's wrong. The data plate indicates ER6CTA250 -- the non-electronic Cummins 8.3L.

Looks like a nice bus.

Yah I picked up on the 6CTA as well. If I had 4 grand and any spare time I'd be all over this one.

Once I get this damn house fixed up and rented out it'll come off the red side of the books and go onto the black side. Then I'll have time and money for silliness like a school bus.

Anybody know what that bus finally sold at? I followed it as far as 7500, but when I went back later for an update the listing had vanished.

I really wanted that bus, but I couldn't go past 7500, already went past my " no higher" cap.

It was up at 8500+ when I saw it (3 minutes to go) but of course you can't know what it went for if it vanishes when it goes. I wonder why they do that?
