Allison ID help via shifter?

Hey Everyone,

I have been looking at a number of busses online that are being offered by folks that don't understand that Allison has made more than one transmission.

The list the transmission as "Allison". I ask "which Allison?". Reply "Automatic"....

Can you all give me any clues as to narrowing down which tranny it is by which shifter is visible in the pics?

I see a couple of distinct mechanical shifters and the electronic one(s).

Which transmissions used the electronic/pushbutton shifter?

I have only observed firsthand MD3060 and 2000 series with electronic shifters and wonder if the electronic shifter is a good indicator that the bus does NOT have a 545, 730 or 740.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

The shifter won't tell you anything. They are speced by the chassis builders...not Allison. I have a 2200MH with a mechanical shifter (what I wanted) but could have had anything including electronic with a lever, buttons or even paddle.

i may be wrong but i believe if you see an electronic one, its not the AT545.

in buses, i've only seen the AT545 with a simple lever selector with RND21

While the cable shifters are common on At545's, there are some with electronic shifters...like this one...

Can anyone help me figure this out. Allison md3060 1995 with Cat 3116: I have this. 0 IN SERVICE MODE 0 blinking displayed in my electronic shifter. My bus starts fine even with the shifter removed. The do not shift light stays on, and when I push the arrow up, and arrow down buttons the shifter will only display d1. I have never worked on anything before and Allison tried to sell my a new ECM over the phone. If you have any ideas for me to check it would be of great help.

Not sure if this is going to help but this is my shifter; 1,2,3,4,D. I assume its a 5 spd. And the economy mode I assume means lock-up.

Wrong. That shifter shows RND4321, so it's for a 5-speed.
