Brake Line Leak

Looking at a 1993 International School Bus. It has Hydraulic brakes, The current owner says the brake line leaks a little. Is it as simple as changing a hydraulic hose on a Caterpillar 336 Excavator or is this more complicated than that?

I am new to this page and this will be my first school bus purchase.

JD, we'd be better able to help you if we knew where the leak is----flex hose, steel pipe, at a fitting, from the master cylinder, at a wheel cylinder, at a caliper etc--you get the idea.

He didn't specify where exactly the leak was. The bus is about 3 hours from where I live so I haven't been able to go out and look at it yet.

Line leaks are fairly simple repairs, and so are master cylinders as they replace quite easily. Wheel calipers are only more difficult because the wheel must come off to do the repair.

For flex line leaks i always replace the line. They are cheap enough to replace.
The metal tube ends can easily have a new fitting flared on with a tool available at most auto stores.

Good luck!
