Good to know John. I just replaced my batteries but I have to pump and pump the gas petal to get it to start (with no flooding smell and engine is in front). No leaking under bus, so perhaps losing prime explains it. Will start it every 2 weeks from now on.

Ether/starting fluid is like a heavy drug to a diesel.
The more it snorts/huffs/inhales the more it wants..
A spray/squirt bottle of gasoline will do the same thing.
Is less addictive.
Most of the time won't vapor lock the engine unless your battery is already weak.
If you know the motor needs/wants/would like a starter fluid then spray the filter before you ever turn the key.
If you spray direct while trying to crank? At least keep a gloved hand in between your face and where your spraying.?
Might lose some hair but not your face?

My 3126 B did the same thing it was a clogged primary filter
