The fact that various members of these forums were successfully able to get their 6th gear unlocked since you've been into buses. You have a tendency to state your opinions as fact and I was just supporting the counter-argument with evidence.

I don't want to cruise much faster than 65mph cause fuel, but I also don't want to put the engine

You have a 3126, what does Cat recommend ideal fuel economy rpm at?

Thinking
IDK, I'm doing 65 at 1700-1800 rpm.
I'd go with something like 4.88-5.29 for your setup.

Give me one example varifying the date it was done? What evidence did you provide? No where do I state anything as fact, only my opinion. You can tell me what I've seen or not.

There was one person in that thread that was successful. We don't know how new his bus is. He was also denied by Allison and got lucky when the dealer ran a BS story by Allison. That chances of that happening for us is slim and none.

Every reason Allison has given seems to be BS. It's too old, too old for what? It will allow it to reach speeds in excess of the load rating. My bus already exceeds the load rating by 20mph. I want better fuel economy, that's all.

If you're WTEC II then it honestly might be too old

Seems like most shops don't have computers or anything that will work with WTEC II

Allison would not use that as an excuse if only some service centers didn't have the capability. I don't need most, I just need one reasonably priced place I can send the unit to. PCM said they would do mine and then said they didn't have the software for the early ones. I'd still like to know the cut off year on old and new.

Call ECM king and see if they can unlock 6th for you. Hopped up DT466, 3060, 4.44 rear with 1100-22.5 tires, huge radiator from 427 gas motor, I turn 1550 RPM @ 70 MPH, eighty is a breeze, I am sure I can do 100 MPH because I have plenty of RPM left at 70. I have the kickdown set so if I come to a hill and push the pedal down more it drops into 5th, I climb the hill and it drops back into 6th when I back off throttle, perfect I think. If I want to stay in 6th I hold throttle steady and shed road speed until I get down to @60 then it drops automatically to 5th. I have to be careful or I will get a speeding ticket. Many times I have looked at speedo and I am doing 85. Regular 4 driveshafts, drum brakes, 25000 pounds gross, 8.9 MPG when I am driving, 10 MPG when girlfriend drives, I don't think it could be any better or me be any happier about all my hard work with complete engine, transmission and rear end swap. Only thing I missed was retarder on 3060.

I ran my red one up to 80 once just to try it.. I hated it but the bus seemed to be cruising right along .. it ran up to 80 pretty easily in 5th then dropped into 6th and i still have bigger sticks and the Orion tuner to hook up..
