Heaters hot even when off!

Driving my first bus... and I notice the block get quite hot even though the heat is turned off. Is this normal? If not, what might be the problem? If normal, is there anything that can be done about it?

I live in a hot climate with the occasional visit to cooler places. Blower is not blowing but the heat radiates up. The bus has no a/c so I really feel the heat.

I think you are talkimg about the under seat heaters. There may be a pump that is switched on that is circulating coolant to the heaters. There should be valves in the engine compartment on the heater lines that can be closed to stop the flow of coolant. If you google search "heater skoolie.net" there should be some theads that discuss this.

Yes, I turn the coolant valve to closed for the summer every year. About time to open it for the cooler weather.

It is a great idea to familiarize yourself with the locations of the heater valves by the engine and make sure they function. If your system ever has a leak, being able to turn the valves-off can be the difference between limping-home and unintended extended camping session.
