High Mileage
Im planning on buying a bus this weekend and it has 214,000 miles on it. I was wondering if that is a lot for a bus?

It is a diesel. The bus is a 2001 Thomas on a freightliner chassis.

What engine and what was maintenance like? Miles are a poor representation of a school bus seeing most of them just sit and idle.

It has a caterpillar engine. I am not sure of the size of it. I wont know the engine hours until I go look at it on saturday, since it is at an auction. It was owned by a school district, so i assume that it was well taken care of.

I got the bus. It is in great shape. I received all of the maitenance records. The tires and brakes are in perfect condition, and it shifts smoothly. This was a great buy and only for $1600

It has a Caterpillar 3126 and an Allison tranny. Im not sure of the model cause im at college right now and cant look at the bus.
