I'm a bit confused by this compressor situation

1986 Thomas-Ford with an 8.2 Detroit in it.

Took it to a shop several months ago, because it was making a hiss-hiss-hiss noise. They determined that it needed a new compressor. So they pulled apart the current compressor, and ordered another one. They ordered the wrong one. We needed the bus, so they put it back together.

They did not convey to the person picking up the bus properly, what they had actually done. We believed they had "fixed" it. I called them about a month ago, and found out that they ordered the wrong one and such. I also found out they had ordered the correct one, never told us they did this, and waited for us to bring the bus back. When we didn't, they simply sent the compressor back and had to pay a restocking fee. So now they are trying to charge us for them pulling the thing apart, ordering the wrong one, putting it back together, and the restocking fee for the compressor we didn't know they ordered.

But more importantly, how did they order the wrong one in the first place? I stuck my head in there today, and I could clearly see the model of the compressor. It appears that all it needs is a new gasket to make it stop leaking. Am I missing something? Is it really this simple to fix?

Them compressors are rebuildable, and you can get rebuilt heads, bottom ends and seal kits.

The shop you took it too sucks. If they failed such a simple fix, I would hate to see what else they fail at.
