Me too. I find that the bus runs good between 55 - 60. Speed limit here is 65, so I keep her at 60. I get there in plenty of time.

I hit the govern at abot 67 mph, but I only get there down hill

6th gear

I unlock all my 6th gears via a letter from the OEM of the bus. Allison will send a liability release to sign, then release the calibration to the local Allison dealer.

6th kicks in between 49-52mph depending on the engine, and lowers the engine by 300 RPM which is pretty significant.

To debunct these outrageous hypothesis I've read.. The transmission is designed for 6th gear operations. Your engine computer communicates with the transmission computer. It will downshift when necessary and it will not "bog"the engine.

Cost less than $100 bucks to reprogram and you'll recoop the cost that same week in fuel!

I have the MD3060 and my bus came with 6th gear unlocked. The bus will do 80 without a problem. (We did this at night with no traffic because we were curious)

The bus runs much better at 60-65. I was able to get 10mpg. When my buddy was driving he would go up to 70 and his mileage was about 7mpg to 8mpg.

It's just safer and better gas mileage to stay in the right lane and mossy along at a slower speed.

I certainly do not advocate speeding.. We strictly unlock ours for fuel economy purposes. We also activate the "economy mode" which must be activated by Allison.

The 6th range will save fuel. It has saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Have you managed this with a Bluebird?

They seem reluctant to send the release letter that Allison requires.
