questions about my engine
I just bought a 1990 international 3800. Seems to have a Navistar diesel engine in it. it looks like it has some kind of propane tank hook up that goes to it? can anyone tell me what that is about?

Need a picture, if it is about the size of a 1 pound propane tank, it is probably an ether tank for a cold start kit

there's no tank attached to it. just the hose for it. coming out into the cabin? i thought it was another air compressor hose (there's one underneath the bus) but my dad says no, that it looks like a propane hook up and wonders if it is like some kind of propane turbo for the engine?
my dad is a pretty good handyman, just not that familiar with diesel engines -- i'm sure he will figure it out, but i was trying the easy way out..
i don't have a picture of it, i'll get one tomorrow in the daylight..

Could be for a booster. It's my understanding that injecting propane into a diesel is analogous to a nitous oxide power boost in a gasser.
Tho my knowledge of diesel is pretty much limited to knowing to use only the green handled nozzle at the pump...

Just be careful if you go to a BP fuel station. They have the handle colors reversed.

One moment's inattention could result in that being an expensive cerebral flatus...

Where does the other end of that line go? Pics of it would probably be helpful too. It does look like a propane connection though.

I know he said there was nothing attached to the connector. I was wondering where that line leads to from the connector, is the other end attached somewhere on the engine? If it does go to the engine what is it attached to? A picture of the other end where it attaches. If it is not attached to anything...hard telling not knowing
