I'm guessing it's cable operated throttle? Does the throttle cable move freely, no binding etc?

Does it have throttle linkage or a cable?

What year is it?
Does it have a carb or fuel injection? Or is it a diesel?

The part you can see, meaning the gas pedal?
Spraying wd40 on the pedal won't hurt anything. Most likely won't help anything either, though.
Open the hood and disconnect the air cleaner from the carb. Good where the cable is connected to the carb and unhook it. Should be pretty simple to unhook. If the throttle lever on the carb is free to move, then the problem is in the cable.

Yup.
Now you have to smell wd40 anytime you're sitting behind the wheel with the engine redlined.

Last year my 2003 Class c motorhome (Gas V-10) cable was stuck, or that's what I thought,
when I opened up the air cleaner A mouse had eaten through the air cleaner, and packed the area with nesting and acorns up to the butterfly valve.
when i started the engine and opened the valve all the debris got stuck & held it open.
Luckily I was able to dismantle the air intake & vacuum everything out & there was no damage.

Yeah, the acorns are such high fibre they pass right through.

Take the air filter cover off and look at the rods or cables that run to the carb. Move them with your hands to see what is sticking. Might free things up then spray all the linkage with wd40. You will have to be the mechanic in the family I guess, lol.

Did you try this?
I promise, I didn't suggest this just because I enjoy typing things out into the abysmal depths of the internet. I'm trying to help you find the problem, and this's the first step. If you need clarification on anything, don't hesitate to ask. And if you need any help identifying parts, post a picture and we'll point out what's what.

Ok. A guy came by and took the thing apart. Fuel-injection engine, no carb. Throttle was sticking. Cleaned it, put everything back. Says all else is well under there. Reached it from INSIDE the bus. 50 bucks. Thanks to all who tried to help.

Sounds like a good guy for not overcharging you. Someone like that is definitely good to know if you don't have a whole lot of mechanical experience under your belt.
Also, that cover that allows engine access from inside the bus is called a doghouse. One of those terms that might be hard to figure out what somebody's talking about if you just hear it thrown out there.
Hope you're having fun driving it around!
