T444E vs. Cat 3126

Ok, I have been talking to my shop guys at the depot. They say the 7.3L T444E is better than the Cat 3126. The Cat has injector O rings replaced about every year, oil pumps replaced every five or so years. No so much with the Indianapolis 7.3L engines. So I have 2 or so years before buying one of these beauties. So..... I'm now leaning back toward the T444E set up. For y'all that own either of these engines, what have your experiences been since owning these engines.....?

Re: T444E vs. Cat 3126

I'm ok with the T444E in my International. I'd prefer a DT466 or DT360, but they're much harder to find around here. The T444E gets me up to speed fast enough, has enough power and parts are easy to find. Nothing terribly exciting, but it does the job.

I don't do cat anything due to cost, and odd systems.

DT anything over a cat anything. DT's are like a big Cummins with wet liners. IMO the best there is.

I have to disagree with Nat.

The CAT 3126 is the best, because of my wealth of knowledge on it (Squat nothing), but mainly because that is what my bus has. The best is the one you own.

Re: T444E vs. Cat 3126

I'm with Nat [sorry], negative on the Cat. The reason would be parts and service costs. I've run a lot of Cats, and we always had the same costs issue. Macks were just as bad....but it was worth it. ;)

Never run a 3126 though, so no comment on that particular engine.

Re: T444E vs. Cat 3126

I wasn't sure of t444e, but now that I been running mine for the last 3years I really like it, and whats nice parts are everwhere, and the cost of a new motor is not bad a all, its no power house, but it does what ever I ask it to do
