Using a bully dog for better mileage?
I don't have a bus, but I'm heavily considering it.
I was wondering, do newer buses have a diagnostic port or have the ability to connect a bully dog tuner?
Just wondering. I didn't see anything about it when I did a search.

Most busses have what's called an OBD-1 port, sometimes located in the dash, often dangling above the pedals.
Typically, for most of us, it is a round, 5 pin that the reader or PC is plugged into for diagnostic purposes.

anything computer controlled has a diag. port for checking,testing,tuning.
never used the bully dog but other members here will chime in soon to comment.
caddilac kid and johhny mullet would probably be the ones to give those specifics.

Didn't know about these, and now don't expect to!
Went to their website only to find that International/ Navistar aren't engine options listed to check for fit...

Buses will have what they call J1708 round 6 pin or a J1939 round 9-Pin not like an OBDII connection. they make adapters to go from an OBDII to the round pin, but I am not sure if a programmer (off the shelf) will work. I would love to be wrong!

Thanks. Yeah, I found a thread about tuners. Looks like it's for light trucks and semi's. Looks to have passed over the bus crowd

Bully Dog tuners are more geared toward diesel powered pickup and light duty trucks.
Maybe something Cummins powered might be covered??
I'm not familiar with any aftermarket plug in tuners for busses, or heavy duty trucks, but they must be out there too???

I neglected to count the center hole (#6) as a pin! Casual glance, I took it as a screw hole. Screwed up info on my part, thanx for the connection correction.
En route to TX, I met up with Christopher in OH. He & his magic machine were able to wring an extra, much-needed 5 mph out for my bus' 'pute thru that port.
56 mph top end ain't great, but beats the snot outta 51!
