Ford/New Holland 7.8 Turbo Diesel engine

Can anyone tell me about the Ford/New Holland 7.8 Turbo Diesel engine.

Will it be a strong, reliable engine?
Any opinions or comments?

Strong? .... relativly, it is a heavy engine and will be slow like most busses
Reliable? .... yes if maintained
Serviceable? ...... not as much since parts are getting harder to come by.

On a ford chassis you should be checking the brake types, since ford did use that one type of brakes that everyone "hates". I can't think of the name of those brakes off-hand.
