parking breaks

I have a converted 1987 Ford
Hydro assist brakes
Parking brake seems to be dragging
Some sort of switch on tee fitting separating both parking brake cylinders on the rear axel has a wire broken off the switch. Unable to reattach as tag on the switch broken off.
What is this switch called and what does it do?

It, probably attached at the pressure differential valve and
called a brake warning switch. It will illuminate a lamp in the
instrument cluster that says Brake. To be sure you can ground
the wire with a fused lead (just for safety)and see if the dash
lite comes on, with the key on of course.

You likely have the lucas-girling brakes that ford used. I would Google that system and read up on it.
