I believe mine is a Dana 80 dually. Here's a link to the fluid change process:

https://www.dieselhub.com/maintenanc...-80-fluid.html

Basically you pull the differential cover and clean out the old oil then reseal the cover with RTV sealant (there is no gasket). Using a quart pump refill the differential up to the fill port with 75-140 full synthetic (4.2 quarts).

You can see the fill plug in the picture. There is no drain plug.

Does anyone know what this is on the back of the fuel tank? 2003 E450 7.3L Thomasbuilt.. I am hoping it is an extra fuel pickup that I can tap into for heater, but suspect it might just be a fuel tank vent, hoping someone on here knows.

Okay, officially confused here.... New to skoolie. Net and this thread is my go to for my 7.3l I have an 03 7.3L power stroke and everything on here is saying red elc no problem but my bus has a sticker on the coolant reservoir saying not to do that, am I missing something or do I need to get regular coolant and add the sca?

Edit: I just finished replacing the oil cooler and had to flush the oil and coolant so now im trying to get it on road and running.

Possibly an older engine has been installed?
From what I've read, the red elc coolant is fine in '00 and up.

Let me snag a photo in a few minutes but it's a cutaway E-450 bus I just bought from school bus company. None of the paper work I have says it's ever had the engine swapped. the sticker is from the factory unless they grabbed the coolant res from another type of bus? Anyway I can tell if the engine isn't original?

Update: did the ELC drove it from NJ down to GA with no coolant related issues. Its going to get flushed regardless after removing the heater and fixing/finding the coolant leak near the engine.

My bus has a 1st generation T444E, and I have NO warning stickers about coolant, so don't depend on that. I also have a coolant tank that sits about 6 inches higher than my radiator (it's actually up over my alternator), and it doesn't look like yours.

That said, I've been running the old-school green antifreeze in there, and have had no problems.

Look for marks on the bolt / nut heads for the transmission bellhousing bolts, or signs that the bolts/nuts or engine block are cleaner than the transmission. Also, other bolts and nuts securing other hardware to the engine would show signs of removal and reinstallation.

You can also find the engine's serial # and check it against the chassis manufacturer's records of what engine serial # it came with. All bets are off if it was simply rebuilt, as the serial # would remain the same.

But I hear tales of people using ELC in applications that didn't call for it, as well as using non-ELC in applications that did, without issue. As long as the system is flushed completely, for some applications, it may not be a problem. I have heard of some going to non-ELC due to issues with the non-ELC though.

I run cheap traditional green coolant and drain the radiator every 20k.
