366 transmission options

My current Allison 545 is shifting funny. Im looking to replace it with something better, manual or automatic. I just want something that will give me more gears to remain in the engines power band and overdrive if possible. Swapping to a bigger engine or a diesel is something Im looking into because I will travel about 600 miles one way a few times a year.

Any ideas, recommendations and details about the swap are appreciated.

Also person experiences would be great

If you haven't done your build, it may be easier to swap buses.

Look for 1541 swap in searches.

If you gotta do that kinda driving regularly, I'd try to flip it for a tidy profit the get a bus more suited to what you want to do.
You'll be thousands of dollars and lots of hours swapping stuff.
Find something with a Cummins 8.3 or Navistar DT466, and overdrive trans, air ride, and highway gearing in the rear.
