So let's say you go buy an older vehicle with new tires on it.
How to find out if new tires are hiding a suspension or alignment problem?

Alignments are cheap. Much cheaper than tires.
You can tell if the suspension is broken.

you can check your own alignment ... look it up on the net. requires very simple tools u can make. You can also check for suspension problems with items such as 10+ ton jack and steel bar, etc.

also if you jack up the front wheels (both at once..) you can shake them and see how loose things are.. take one of your new cars and do it.. and then do it to an older car / van.. of course a bus steering and suspension is a little looser than a new car but gives you a bot of a reference point.. you can also look at the rubber boots and metal around tierod ends should be in good shape and not torn or chips out of the metal.. (grease is normal... the lack of grease could indicate no one has bothered to lube the suspension on forever...)..
jump up and down on the bumper of a van.. does it creak horribly or appear to bind? does it bounce more than once or twice (shocks)..
suspension worl (while it CAN be expensive) can be done by indeoendent non-dealer shops so even if you bought something only to find out that the suspension is extra loose or such.. in a relative sens the cost to fix it is not nearly like having to fix an emission or computer related issue on a newer vehicle.

AC assessment & tools ?
Feel free to instruct
So the AC on my 2010 Honda Fit blows cool but not cold. It has been like this for as long as we can remember.
In addition, the car is black interior & exterior which doesn't help.
Assessment
1. Buy vent thermometer to get accurate & baseline reading of temperature.
2. Check for Freon pressure & possible charge it.
Tools
Thermometer - https://www.amazon.com/Interdynamics.../dp/B002G1PBHI
Something like this for AC kit - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...6342e4a7452647
Using this video as guidance

I'm not going to say your fit isn't low however
Honda AC sucks in my opinion on the newer cars. I had a 12 civic I got new.. the ac was yucky .. turns out for fuel economy the computer cycles out the compressor way too early leaving the driver with air that seems to warm slightly just about the time it started to feel nice and cold...
Also the humidity.. humidity in Florida can eat up to 40% of an A/C cooling capacity.. ill explain how if you really want to know.
Over charging a unit results in cooling performance issues and or possible damage to the system.
Gauge pressures and vent temps are definitely related to outside temp and humidity ...
Anyone can do A/C and get it decent. But it takes tools and science to fine tune one to be ice cold.
I altered the civic By use of a ballast resistor to fool the computer into thinking the car was just a bit warmer than it was so the unit cycled off with colder air

I guess it makes sense, because when comparing the corolla that is much older and the AC is freezing cold.
So what's the verdict? leave it as is.
Even if there is no need for interventions, I would like to do a basic assessment, that's why i was thinking on temperature reading and pressure checking.
I'm trying to steer away from taking it to a shop, some guy tells me a story and charges me $ for just looking at it . . .

It definitely doesn't hurt to test its temperature and give it a good visual too.
Make sure the front condenser is clean,?that your radiator fan kicks on when the ac is on ,
Run it on recirculated air on very hot days , open windows for first few minutes of driving a sun soaked car to blow out the super heated air. Then after 15-20 minute drive measure air going in ie intake and air at vents , note any cycling effects on your digital thermometer in your vent ( use center vent).
On full blast in a Honda you should attain a 47-53 temp range it cycles between . Toyotas typically get down to that low 40s area maybe 1-2 higher.
Gauges are last test as you always lose just a bit of your 134a any time you attach and detach a gauge set.
