Timing Blue Bird All American with 427 engine?

Hi folks,

Any advice on how to time a 427 BBC engine? I can't seem to see the timing marks from the top of the engine where the indicator should be located, there seems to be a bent triangle toward the lower drivers side on the crank pulley. There seems to be two marks on the pulley, the line which should be tdc and a dot or circle about 30-40 degrees clockwise to the line. But when the line is at the triangle which I can see from underneath the engine, that doesn't seem like tdc for cylinder 1?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Simple enough to make your own. Find TDC, make a pointer (I usually put it where I can see it from underneath, put a mark on the damper and use an advance timing light.

Thanks, mine is a 1975 front engine, I was hoping there might be someone out there that may have worked on them and said something like "just hook the pickup to #4 cylinder spark plug wire", seems like the pointer was put there on purpose, it's a little banged up, but sure would be nice not to have to find tdc and make a mark. Exact tdc can be hard to find without an indicator and there's not much room on the sides of the engine to set something up. Could be done but access isn't great.
