Latest on the rebuild. Have the liner and pistons in and shimmed to the correct height. Not the best picture but here is the head being lowered into the locomotive.
One cylinder bore needed just a light hone for the liner to fit to proper clearance. Just a note the oil rings are a three price set. An expander and two very thin rings for each ring groove. It is very easy for the expander to get overlapped, and then they will compress but not enough to go into the liner. So final step before loading them in the liner, is to check the expander for proper position.
By the way the Pistons with rods attached are loaded into the liners from the bottom, then the whole assembly dropped into the block.
