2006 DT466 EGR and engine mods.

Trying to evaluate my options for this specific year. At this point just learning about egr delete kits and egr coolers. Not sure either option is really worth the effort. Maybe some additional temp gauges for engine and one for little 2500 tranny and just drive it.

Looking for reliable experience with this year and recommendations where to get good info. There are going to be a ton of these units coming out of service soon. So others may get something here.

Not looking to gain any power, this bus will go 75. I am worried more about longevity and mainly heat issuers with the egr.

One of the best things you can do on an EGR engine is install a water methanol injection system in your intake. Water and methanol will lower your EGTs and has been known to decrease the particulate matter created during combustion. This will prolong the life of the EGR cooler and DPF. It will also provide you with a bump in power.

I work in the trucking industry and had a close relationship with Navistar and can say with out a doubt, stay away from anything that says Maxxforce which includes the 2004 and later EGR equipped Navistar engines. They are horrible.
