392 gas good long lasting
That Int engine is tough and will last a long time. But the engine will yield low power and very poor economy. Help the engine as much as possible by using an exhaust with low back pressure, but some noise, open air cleaner, and set the timing a bit advanced. Advanced timing will make starting a little harder but performance will improve. The Carb should be carefully jetted and adjusted. There will be a trade off between power and economy. Usually the older large trucks and buses have a very low rear axle ratio. The gear change is not real expensive or difficult. Wheel and tire size will also affect performance and economy. The first check should be of the compression and should be about 140-160 pounds. Higher compression usually means lots of internal carbon. These engines have been made for a very long time with lots of parts available. There were many engine sizes made. There maybe a net site for these engines. In my time, the engines were called corn binders. Frank
