And you would be right on with that. Here's an example of the graph I mentioned prior. This one happens to be for the 130hp cummins 4bta. As you can see for this engine, the bottom graph indicates best fuel consumption/horsepower to be between 1800 and 2000 rpm.

All manufacturers should have something similar for each power level for each engine they manufacture. The hard part is finding it.

from what ive seen the IHC engines are designed around 2300 RPM for max TQ / HP and 2700 max RPM in their bione stock form..

I see that with the DT-360 / DT-466 / T-444E's at least the ones in school busses.. im sure the trucks are different.. or could be...

I had thought about increasing the power a bit on my DT-360 but everything I read wants to spin it faster.. i dont want to spin it faster... I want to keep the RPM's where they are... its also a 94,000 mile engine right now so i dont know how much power-adding i'd do to it unless i in-framed it to start out completelty fresh.. in its satock healthy form its probably going to last for a good long time still.. so theres that..

FWIW-the 466's only rev to 2600, and make peak torque at around 1400-1600 rpm.
