Exhaust Pipe Hanger

Hey everyone,

I have a 2000 international bus, and I have bee. Looking for a replacement exhaust Pipe hanger for about 2 weeks. I've checked every website I could find with no luck. The closest I came was on unitedmuffler.com... They have a few that go up to 11" diameter but I need a 13". Anyone have any idea where to find one?!!

Your pipe doesn't look anywhere close to being 13" in diameter. Are you measuring the diameter or the circumference?

Most exhaust on busses is 4" diameter. Any local autoparts store should have a 4 inch band clamp, which is what I'm thinking you need. It looks like you need a new hanger and clamp for that as well.

If your exhaust is 4", here are the part numbers from napa that you'll need.

7335976 - Flat Band Exhaust Clamp
7321009 - Hanger
7335752 - Exhaust U Bolt

I keep all of that in stock, as does the local napa store, so you should have a good chance of those items being available.

I just removed an 8' section of pipe at the rear of my Genesis. I have 2 of those brackets available. Make me an offer I can't refuse.
I even have a 4" coupler I'll throw in if you need it.

Any heavy duty parts store will have them. You'll want a hanger, clamp.
You also might want to cut out the rotten part and slip an oversized section over it. +2 clamps if you go that road.

Turns out that the FAMILY SIZE (i.e. 50 ounce) DelMonte green bean cans will slip over the pipe almost perfectly and will clamp down tightly. I used one such can and two 4" exhause pipe clamps from an auto parts store to make a temporary repair until I could redesign our exhaust system.


My wife now calls the cans "exhaust pipe repair kits".

That is a clamp. There's 2 in the pic I posted.

I'd suggest you go to a local auto parts store ... something like tht is quite commonplace.

Here's a picture of a bog standard exhaust hanger and a bog standard exhaust clamp. You'll be able to find these anywhere. They are intended to adapt to most situations. Many bolt holes to accommodate the right height. You can cut off the excess. You can weld onto them.

Don't worry about matching the old clamp perfectly. There are several types and they all do essentially the same thing. The exhaust piping on buses isn't all that special. It's mostly made up of a bunch of Lego block pieces.

I know my local NAPA has hangers up to 4"...have you checked with them?

That setup is actually what I got from Napa this morning. Once I got there and talked to the guy, it all made sense. I thought I needed to find that exact piece... Definitely a learning process haha. Thanks again everyone.
