Hello all. Engine question

I hope I'm in the right location. I am currently looking at a 2000 International AM Tran RE with a DT 530 E and an Allison 3060 Auto. I know the transmission is a good one, but my question is, is the DT 530 E a good engine? Is it reliable relatively speaking? I am new to skoolies so I am confused what setup is preferable to most people. I know preference is based on personal choices, but the overall consensus is what I am looking for. I know I probably won't be able to find that "unicorn" but I would like to get as close as possible. Any and all advice is much appreciated. Thanks

Its the KING of school bus engines.
They're pretty much unicorn status. Not too many. Some in AZ.

That's a great motor, second only to the holy grail million mile motor all the truckers wish they had, the T444E.

How does the DT530 compare to the 8.3?

6 of one half dozen of the other. Either one with a 3060 would be as good as you'll get in a normal school bus.

Thanks everyone.

I know there will be more discussion, which I like. You all have been helpful and are helping me narrow down my future bus.
