I would really be an unhappy camper if a bug sized my engine up. That sucks

Anyway on my bus she sat there for 11 months and fired up just like it was shut off the day before. Pretty uneventful. Quick service at a shop. oil change new fuel filters and grease of the chassis, she made the 1100 mike drive home just fine.

He we are just outside Moab, Utah.

joeblack5 is my hero today.

OP, be careful your bus isn't fooling around with another man while you're gone. Eight months is a long time to be apart.

bugs in motor

Wasps in Hotlanta tried to nest in my mailbox. We battled for a week. I tore the nest out 3 times, they rebuilt within 24 hours. I squirted them with hydrogen peroxide, they rolled on the ground, and were back the next day. I tore out the nest and smeared petroleum grease on the spot. They never returned.

I seriously doubt dirt daubers nested inside an oily motor; but if they got inside the breather, the dirt may have gotten in the motor at startup, and fried it that way. But who knows? I've seen crazier things as a mechanic. As for stopping up all the drainholes in the head, again, very unlikely. Lotta dirt. But look at the pyramids. A family of daubers can fill a lot of space in a short time. I just don't see them liking the inside of an oily motor; but I guess if it sat long enough, those would be the least oily spots in the head...

But then we're back to how did they get in? air cleaner left open? mice chewing holes?

I left my 1993 Nissan minivan in Atlanta for years at a time at my mom's house when I live in Hawai'i. It always started right up, no questions.

I had the filter off...... And when I inspected the engine afterwards, the intake was full of oil. How would you explain it?

Usually PCV valve issue.

Found this in between the housing and filter on my 2nd bus.
