oil/coolant light
when the bus gets up to temp, the oil/coolant light comes on, i just changed the oil and filter, and topped up the coolant, everything seems to be working fine, temps and pressures are correct, when i change the oil i didn't notice and coolant in the oil, I'm not sure what could cause the light to be coming on? any suggestions? maybe air in the system?

and to add, should i be checking to oil hot and running, to get the right lvl or cold?

it wanted too, it would come in and out, i though it was a short in the wiring, it was never a solid light like it is now, the temp max is 185-190F any suggestions?

Ummm...you check the engine oil with the engine off.

thanks tips, we check the oil at work while the engines are running. But thats on a submarine, not a bus.

The light indicates low oil pressure, or low coolant level. So you either have one or the other, or a bad sender. How many miles/hours do you have on the bus? My bet, is that changing the oil dropped the hot pressure below the sender threshold and now that light will illuminate at idle anytime the engine is warmed up

it has 780 hrs, and about 319,000 kms, so 198,200 miles, I'm not sure when the hr meter rolls over, or if it has to be reset manually? the guy i got the bus said the engine was rebuilt 780 hrs ago? i didn't see any paper work stating the fact. I'm going to pull the sender and start there, and check the wiring.

so there are two sensors on the drivers side head, the forward sensor has one brown wire, when i unplug the sensor the oil/water light and buzzer go out, what would this be indicating? bad sensor, or bad wiring? what should the idle oil pressure be at when warm? when i start it, its around 30 psi, then drops as the engine warms to about 10 at idle.

I've never heard of a 7.3 having an oiling issue. I'd start with a sensor.
