Oil volume expanding fairly rapidly

It’s not water because there’s no foam or discoloration ... So it’s fuel? Nearly an inch of expansion in less two hours of operation. Is there any way overfilling the fuel tank can cause this ... because I just topped the tank for the first time during the mentioned two hours.

If you are certain that the oil level is rising then there are two likely sources. Coolant or fuel.

Sounds like you have ruled out coolant. That leaves fuel.

I have never seen or heard of an overfilled fuel tank allowing fuel to make it's way into the crankcase. Usually it is due to failing injectors.

The only time I have had a similar issue with one of my rigs it turned out that I was parked on enough of a slope that my dipstick gave a bad indication. I felt pretty stupid when I figured it out.....

There's a third option. PS gear driven pump. Fuel should feel thin to the touch.
PS will lower level in reservoir. U didn't say if it was computerized injected if it is a bad injector o wrong can do it. Or bad transfer pump on old nozzle injection system.

Engine details would be helpful.

does the engine smoke or have a 'miss' when it idles? bad injectors on the 444E can dump fuel into your oil.. diesel fuel can and does expand but I wouldnt expect that fuel to end up in your engine oil .. there is normally at least 47PSI fuel pressure on the rail all the time so even if fuel expanded and was pressurized against the rail the only way it ends up in the crankcase is a bad njector or if by chance as mentioned the lift pump is bad and is letting fuel in contact with the oil..

fuel thins out your oil so you'd likely notice lower oil pressure..

also on the 444E its possible your oil rails and HPOP reservoire are draining back into the pan when the engine sits overnight.. you'd likely notice long-crank before start if this were the case.

Thats a great point about the slope ... it makes a lot of sense when you consider there’s 5 gallons of oil at play
