Tensioner pulley wobbles when engine idles, what problems can this cause?

A couple months ago we took our bus to a mechanic about “a noise that sounds like a squeaky belt.” Since then we have learned much more about our bus and it’s under the hood parts. They said it was fine and old engines make noises. I now know that it’s the tensioner pulley on it’s way out.

We had trouble with the air compressor and had it replaced, we started building air and continued for about a day and then back to nothing.

Wondering if this is a problem caused by the worn pulley or something in the air system.

To clear this up a little, we’re having trouble building air pressure in the tank. Wondering what it could be if the compressor was replaced and the problem persisted.

Also, Before the pump was replaced, the governer was replaced, air worked for a day or so before crapping out again.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Joe

the governor on the air compressor actuates the valve unloaders in the head of the compressor.. its very possible that the springs on the valve unloaders can stick.

if you have a Tu-Flo 550 compressor, the complete unloader mechanism can be removed, cleaned, and serviced with just removing the plate on top of the compressor head near the intake..

if you have a Tu-Flo 501. you can remove the inlet filter assembly.. or inlet manifold that has a hose on it. to reach the unloaders.. you can spray it with a good spray lubicrant like a graphite garage-door spring lubricant. and then cycle the system, up and down to see if it gets better..

here is a video explaining how the cut in and cut out work..

startiung about 5:50 minutes in shows the governor and unloading mechanism and how it works..
