Unmarked yellow light next to dash
To the left of the main dash cluster there is an unmarked yellow indicator light that is only illuminated when I press on the brake pedal. My rig is a 2001 International/Bluebird with air brakes. The brakes seem to be pressurized properly at about 120 psi on the gauge, and the buzzer isn't going off. Not sure what this is, haven't been able to find much via Google searches.

don't know if this helps, but I have a light that comes on when I step on the pedal... I noticed it the first time I drove the bus. according to the salesman and a bus mechanic (not from the dealership lol) in transit style busses they often have a light to indicate when the brake pedal activates the brake lights.

Also, do any buses have has a worn out brake pad sensor/indicator ?

I can't figure out the purpose of that light either. You certainly don't need a light to tell you if the brakes are working. Does your bus have one of the external light monitors? It could be a mechanic's version of a light monitor.

brake switch failures are common on school busses.. they may have had issues and put that light in... Ive never seen one as a stocker on a bus...

I'm not understanding that very well. If I'm driving a bus down the road and the brakes don't work, I'm not going to check the yellow light to confirm I have no working brakes. Could it just be a mechanic's version of the exterior light monitor to confirm brake lights?

You have an international dash? My bus has the Bluebird dash. They have the tail light indicator on the dash... Maybe someone added it. See if the wires go down to the brake pedal where the switch for the brake lights is.

I am pretty sure it's a brake light indicator. I don't know why, but they seem to be on quite a few busses. You should trace the wires, just to make sure. I bet they go straight to the pedal switch.

My '02 Bluebird has a "service brake indicator" that comes on whenever the brakes are applied.
I had the same question and finally found the answer in the operators manual online.
To be clear. Mine also has an "ABS Fault" light and it is red.

My abs fault light is yellow. And my service brake indicator is red.
Both are on my dashboard.

Hate to drag up an old thread, but I have a question about the operators manual for my 2002 BB.
Do you have a link where I can find this manual? Questions to BB have gone unanswered.

We picked up an operator's manual for our bus from the truck shop that does the work on the local school buses. They scrap out the buses when they go out of service so we've picked up some extra parts from them as well.
