Where to source t444e new spare parts

Looking to put together some spare parts to carry on my bus since it’ll be cheaper than a tow... specifically

- [ ] CPS cam position sensor
- [ ] IPR Injection pressure Regulator
- [ ] ICP Injection Control Pressure
- [ ] UVC injector and glow plug harness
- [ ] Glow plug relay

Any suggestions on a good source for these parts? Preferably online.

Getting parts at Napa has been problematic because they search everything by vin and it usually doesn’t work well. Plus I wanna make sure I get the international part not the ford one...

Much of this stuff is probably available on Amazon. I did a quick search and found glow plug relay and CPS fairly easily and quickly.


Search by part numbers of you have them.

I am subscribing to this thread because I would also like to know if other T444E owners recommend other parts to carry that are known to cause problems. I was even thinking of soliciting a list in a new thread of everything skoolie owners pack around....

I read that some people were concerned about using non-oem parts. Any opinions on if these ones are good and reliable? Or experiences?

ive heard all kinds of mixed reviews on OEM vs non OEM parts.. partly I think its that many people who dont have access to scan tools just start replacing things if the engine doesnt start or throws a code.. and when a certain part doesnt clear said code they instantly say "this part sucks".. the 5 parts to carry have all been covered well and are the source of most 444E issues.. the only thing id add to it would be a fuel filter, as bad fuel can makje any diesel clog its filter and run like crap...



the other big thing is make sure your batteries are healthy... these engines like to spin fast when starting.. if they dont, then the computer will refuse to send any fuel..

If you have a 97-03 T444E the UVC harness is different:

Also rockauto.com is a good source for these products as well, albeit without prime shipping but they have a large selection. The key is to search under Ford F250 or Excursion with same year as your bus. Some things can be found by looking under Internation; Year; Model ( 3800 in most cases ), then whatever section of parts you are looking for.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is to make sure your belt and tensioner/idler pulleys are in good shape. If you throw that belt you are a stuck duck. Different buses have different length belts due to different accessories, so if there is a part# visible on your belt still then I advice sourcing a spare. You can also take the belt off and go to autozone or whatever parts store and they can measure it and see if they have anything that would match. I found all of the pulleys I needed for my bus on amazon, but rockauto has them as well.

Right on, thanks! I ordered the correct UCV and am returning the other one. Good thinking on the belt. I think I’ll just inspect the pulleys and get an extra belt. I figure the pulleys will start making noise etc if they are started to go. Bare minimum I could change the belt and limp off to somewhere I could fix the bus.

its also a good idea if you have to change your valve cover gaskets to buy the gaskets that have the UVC harness built in. from what I understand, the plastic connectors on the harness get brittle over time and disturbing it alot to swap out the valve cover gasket can cause the connectors to be loose and pop off in normal operation..



also constitution beings up a really good point.. these engines changed through the years!! big update years are as follows:


97 - *MAJOR* went to Navistar single-box NavPak DLC computer (computer is on passenger valve cover), HPOP new



99.5 - split shot injectors, different piston alloys, electronic trans capable(J1939), ELC coolant compatible.



2002.5 - New turbos(bellowed up-pipes), new ECU, HO models 160cc Injectors, belt routing changed.



while many of the Parts referenced on this page are the same across all years.. PLEASE run your VIN through a navistar dealer, get the Navistar part for your VIN (you can call your dealer with last 8 of the VIN and while they will give you usually outrageous prices on parts you can get the part numbers which you can then search online for).


1997 was a MAJOR uodate to the engine.. not that the 94-96's are bad in any way (there are MANY out there tropping along with well over 200k miles and 10k hours).. Navistar and ford went in separate directions on these due to OBD-II requirements for consumer-sold vehicles.. (OBD-II was required to be the standard computer control for *ALL* consumer vehicles sold in 1995 and after.. variances were written for a long grace period for pickups which were often sold in commercial form.. 3/4 ton +, so ford got until 97 to comply)...



as a result navistar and ford built their own computers from then on.. 1997 was also a good year for them to make other improvements to the engine as they saw fit..



another thing i will mention is that your Serpentine belt is specific to your bus.. there were **MANY** options for under-hood accessories.. such as air compressor, A/C in fasctory position, high and low output alternators, or even dual alternators,.. while ive found the Idler pulleys are available fairly easily as they can cross with the Ford 7.3 parts.. the Belts do not.... the Only place ive ever found the Serp belt for my bus is either order it at the dealer.. or special order it from a parts store as its not stocked anywhere... if you blow an idler pulley on the road you will destroy your belt..



the pre 02.5 have 2 smooth and 1 grooved pulley, the grooved pulley seems to be a failure point.. ive had one break, and Ive caught them about to fail on 2 other busses that ive seen in the last couple years from people ive met.



the time I broke one, i got lucky.. the pulley was in stock locally and I had a spare belt with me.. we found when calling around that the belt was 2 days away minimum.. pulley was on the shelf at NAPA..
