Hp for my 3126
Hi gang,
Fairly new member here. Trying to figure out the hp on my 3126 Cat. I’m guessing 246 or 330? Confused at best
Thanks!

That's the maximum hp rating for that engine family, not the actual engine itself. There's not enough info in the pic. I've got the same tag and I don't have it here with me but I'll go look and let you know where its marked. The tag in the pic looks like it says the same stuff as mine.
Its probably 190hp or so. Do you have a FULL pic?

I stuck my phone over and under the double Ac compressor mount and tried to get it all. It’s dark out now and will see if I missed alittle on the edges tomorrow

This is just an image pulled off Google, but my engine has a tag like this one on the valve cover.

Maximum advertised horse power is 330
Maximum advertised Kilowatts is 246
The actual horse power or kilowatts can be less depending upon the calibration in the engine ECM or the diesel fuel injector trim files.

When I had the valves adjusted on mine they pulled up the info on their system and mine is a 210 HP. You could probably call a CAT shop and ask them.

What you read there is the fuel rate at max kw(hp). So at max hp, the fuel rate is 149mm3/stroke.
There should be another sticker similar to what eastcoast displayed showing the actual hp along with the engine serial number. It might be on the valve cover or on the front timing cover.

My Cat valve cover states the hp too but the one displayed is just plain confusing as well as being in French. Not sure even with your explanation what the fuel rate means in those terms. Probably not many are concerned with that and would just like to see the hp rating, not in kilowatts either.
Thanks though, some may understand but it's all Greek to me.

It essentially means that at max hp, the injectors inject 149 cubic millimeters of fuel per stroke.
That sticker is specific to the 3126 family for 1999. It lists generic things common to that family like valve lash, idle speed, etc. The one eccb posted is engine specific which will tell you the hp the engine came with.
It's in english/french because of Canada.

Don't see another sticker. I guess when the motor falls out under the bus on the first mountain grade, it will be easier to find another sticker...

If you call the maker of the bus with your vin they should be able to tell you.
