'04 Cummins 24valve slow/no start.

Hi, anyone have any ideas as to why battery doesnt seem to hold a charge, starts slower than my '97 12v 5.9 all the time. I havent done alot of trouble shooting yet since bus is stored 60mi away at this time. it will start with jumper cables everytime so im thankful for that, voltage is 14 or so when running.

8D battery is from '12 or 13 so may need testing. im thinking with the electronics it might be a good idea to install kill switch or unhook Neg cable to see anyway. its in BlueBird tcfe 2000. havent removed any schoolbus equipment yet.

thanks for any ideas.

Try disconnecting the power side of the starter solenoid for a couple days & see what happens, the solenoid will developed a green film on the inside much like you see on copper pipes that will run from the terminal over the isolator to the case & draw current.
