as long as you get everything from the 643 the only thing that would be different is the bolt pattern at the rear crank hub and the transmission torque converter "nose" to crank shaft throw out pilot hole interface. you may have to get a 643 flexplate from a donor isb engine to accept the torque converter nose and connection bolt pattern.

there is sae o thru 5 pattern bell housings. compare the bell housings closely for likeness of bolt pattern.

The 643 is a SAE #2 housing and the 545 is a SAE #3.

so your going to need a SAE #2 bell housing with a bolt pattern to match a 643 along with tranny. and if it has no rear tranny support put one under it.

Excellent advice on the tranny support. Many of the early Cummins/Allison combinations suffered fractures in the trans case due to the Cummins engine being hung from the front mounts with no additional support for the trans. That puts undue stress on the transmission. Allison began adding extra webbing to the aluminum cases to help, but the only real solution is to balance the load better. My 4BT is hung from the center engine mounts and has healthy tranny mounts as well.

thanks tango, tincaneasbakeoven has her tranny flappin in da breeze. ima builda top brace for the tranny tabs out of 2x4x.090 with the rubber isolation liner. then drape it over top rails and plate back to a existing bolt hole just for positional support . thank god for ribs
