CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME PLEASE HOW TO INSTALL EXHAUST BRAKE?

Dear Friends,

Today, after just a month's wait, I received my new Jacobs exhaust brake. It is brand new, unused. (Purchased off Ebay.) However, it does not have any instructions with it.

My bus is:
--1993 Ford B700
--28-passenger Thomas body
--5.9L 175 HP Cummins turbodiesel
--4" exhaust, no muffler
--5-speed standard tranny

How close to the turbo does it go, or does it matter?
How "closed" should it be when activated?

Any help would be appreciated!

That's WAY out of my league, and I don't really know which direction to point you. Maybe a big rig diesel forum. I imagine only a very small handfull here even have jakes. Good luck to you.

Bump.

I'm interested in this.

I believe I know one thing: you have to replace the exhaust valve springs -- stiffer ones to keep the valves closed against the back pressure.
