Cost of repair

I have a quote for a new turbo and some other work on my 2003 Blue Bird 24v 5.9 Cummings.

How much should a reman turbo cost?

i havent finished putting mine back together yet.
a rebuild kit was $30
a new CHRA was $150
a chinese turbo was $300
a holset turbo was $1200

i went with the new CHRA and am doing the work myself.

you'd think i'd should know better by now.

Turf; Is the CHRA Holset OEM? Or a Chinese CHRA?

thats a good question! it never occurred to me. i was wondering more if it were balanced by the seller. a lot of the CHRAs come advertised as "balanced", although mine made no mention of it.

by the price, i'd assume its a Chinese one. i looked back to see if i had a picture of the box and i did. definitely, not holset.

also just an fyi to prevent you from making my mistake. i ordered both a rebuild kit and a CHRA. don't do that. the rebuild kit is to rebuild the CHRA you have.

I replaced the turbo a couple years ago on a truck I have with an ISB in it.

Got a Chinese turbo with a 1 year warranty from a place in California for about 240 bucks including shipping. For that price, even if it only lasted a year and a day, I'd still be way ahead of the money spent for a holset.

I have about 40,000 miles on it with no problems.
